Sound familiar, carpenter?

Your carpenters quoting is costing more than time.

Missed fix-out items.

Easy to miss. Expensive to fix.

Inconsistent allowances.

Easy to miss. Expensive to fix.

Quotes that don't match site reality.

Easy to miss. Expensive to fix.

Time writing instead of building.

Easy to miss. Expensive to fix.

Nothing slips through

What BuildScope checks on every carpenter job.

Industry-specific inclusions, prompted before you send the scope, not discovered after you win it.

Frame
  • Framing
  • Roof timbers
  • Bracing
Fix out
  • Doors
  • Architraves
  • Skirting

The scope itself

What goes into a carpenter scope of works.

Carpentry quotes are usually solid on the frame and thin on the fix out, which is where the hours and the small materials hide.

Line items that belong on it

  • Supply and install wall and roof framing as per plan
  • Install roof timbers, bracing and tie-downs
  • Hang doors and install door furniture
  • Supply and fix architraves, skirtings and trims
  • Make good and prepare fixed surfaces ready for painting

What gets left off

  • Fix-out hours per opening. Doors, architraves and skirtings are slow, repetitive and always underestimated.
  • Fixings, adhesives and consumables. Small money on one opening, real money across a whole house.
  • Making good out-of-square existing work. Scribing to an old wall takes far longer than a new one.

Worth excluding in writing

  • Supply of doors and hardware where client selected
  • Painting and finishing of installed timber
  • Structural engineering design or certification

Where BuildScope fits

You run the job. BuildScope does the paperwork in the middle.

Carpenters know how to walk a job and price it. BuildScope takes the paperwork between the site meeting and the quote going out.

BuildScope does this You do this
  1. 01 Enquiry lands Client rings or emails. You book a time to look at the job.
  2. 02 Site meeting You walk the job, measure up and take your photos.
  3. 03 Brain dump Talk or type the job into BuildScope, on site or in the ute.
  4. 04 The questions BuildScope asks what a tired estimator forgets: access, protection, rubbish, patching.
  5. 05 Scope of Works A full scope, trade by trade, preliminaries first, PC and PS kept separate.
  6. 06 Price and export Check quantities and pricing, apply your margin and GST, export the client-ready PDF.
  7. 07 Send and sign You send the PDF. The acceptance page is already in there for the client to sign.
  8. 08 Job runs Book the trades and get moving. The scope is your checklist and your variation defence.

BuildScope covers steps 03 to 06. You do the trade work, it does the paperwork.

Carpenters already running accounting software? No worries.

Build the scope in BuildScope the way you always do, then move the job into your accounting or job management software as a draft, with the PDF attached. Nothing reaches your client until you send it.

How it works

Three steps from site visit to client-ready scope.

01

Describe the job

Talk through the frame and the fix out separately while you are standing in the job, including anything out of square.

02

Answer the questions that matter

BuildScope asks the carpentry questions: linear metres of framing, number of openings, trim profiles, and what is supply versus install only.

03

Review and send

Check the fix-out counts, set your rates per opening or per linear metre, and export before you pack up.

FAQ

Questions carpenters ask before signing up.

Is BuildScope built for carpenters?
Yes. BuildScope is built around real carpenter scopes of works, with carpenters-specific line items, inclusions and wording. It is not a generic template you have to bend to fit.
Can BuildScope help carpenters avoid missed items?
That is the point. It prompts for the things carpenters commonly leave off a quote, like framing and roof timbers, so fewer items slip through before you send the scope.
What should a carpentry scope of works include?
Frame and fix out kept as separate sections. Framing with the linear metres and the members, roof timbers, bracing and tie-downs, then fix out priced per opening: doors hung, architraves, skirtings and trims. Note what is supply and install versus install only, because client-supplied doors and hardware change the price and the responsibility.
Why do carpenters underquote fix out?
Because it is counted by the room instead of by the opening. Every door is a hang, a set of furniture, two sides of architrave and the making good around it, and on an older house it is scribing to walls that are not square. Counting openings and pricing per opening is far more accurate than a lump sum for the fix out.
Can I edit the scope after the AI builds it?
Always. Every line item, quantity, rate and section is editable. Reorder, add, remove or reword anything before you export.
Does BuildScope work from voice notes and photos?
Yes. Talk through the carpenter job, or drop in site notes and a PDF, and BuildScope turns it into a structured Scope of Works you review and tidy.
How does the free trial work?
7 days free with 10 scopes on us, no credit card. Build and export them however you like. After that it is $99 per user a month, everything included.
Does BuildScope work with the software I already use?
Yes. Connect it once from your account settings and any saved scope can be pushed across as a draft, carrying your line items, section headings and exclusions, with the BuildScope PDF attached. BuildScope never sends it to your client and never raises an invoice: that stays your call.
