Nothing slips through

What BuildScope checks on every drainage contractor job.

Industry-specific inclusions, prompted before you send the scope, not discovered after you win it.

  • Service locating
  • Trenching
  • Dewatering
Install
  • Pipework & pits
  • Connections
  • Backfill & reinstate

The scope itself

What goes into a drainage contractor scope of works.

Drainage scopes fail underground, where nobody can check what was allowed for until the trench is open.

Line items that belong on it

  • Locate and mark existing underground services
  • Excavate trenches to required depth and fall
  • Dewatering where groundwater is present
  • Supply and install pipework, pits and connections
  • Backfill, compact and reinstate surfaces

What gets left off

  • Service locating. Required before excavation and its own chargeable task.
  • Reinstatement of the surface. Concrete, paving or lawn over the trench is a separate job.
  • CCTV and compliance documentation. Often required and rarely quoted.

Worth excluding in writing

  • Rock excavation and unexpected ground conditions
  • Repair of unmarked existing services
  • Landscaping beyond nominated reinstatement

FAQ

Questions drainage contractors ask before signing up.

Is BuildScope built for drainage contractors?
Yes. BuildScope is built around real drainage contractor scopes of works, with drainage contractors-specific line items, inclusions and wording. It is not a generic template you have to bend to fit.
Can BuildScope help drainage contractors avoid missed items?
That is the point. It prompts for the things drainage contractors commonly leave off a quote, like service locating and trenching, so fewer items slip through before you send the scope.
What should a drainage scope of works include?
Excavation and installation as separate sections. Service locating, trenching to depth and fall, dewatering if needed, then pipework, pits and connections with sizes and locations, then backfill, compaction and surface reinstatement. Reinstatement needs to be explicit, because putting back concrete or paving is often a bigger cost than laying the pipe.
Who is responsible for locating services before digging?
It is work that has to happen before excavation, so the scope should say who is doing it and who carries the risk if something unmarked is hit. Quoting service locating as its own line and excluding damage to unmarked or incorrectly located services is the standard, honest position, and it is far easier to agree before the machine arrives.
Can I edit the scope after the AI builds it?
Always. Every line item, quantity, rate and section is editable. Reorder, add, remove or reword anything before you export.
Does BuildScope work from voice notes and photos?
Yes. Talk through the drainage contractor job, or drop in site notes and a PDF, and BuildScope turns it into a structured Scope of Works you review and tidy.
How does the free trial work?
7 days free with 10 scopes on us, no credit card. Build and export them however you like. After that it is $99 per user a month, everything included.
Does BuildScope work with the software I already use?
Yes. Connect it once from your account settings and any saved scope can be pushed across as a draft, carrying your line items, section headings and exclusions, with the BuildScope PDF attached. BuildScope never sends it to your client and never raises an invoice: that stays your call.
