What BuildScope checks on every fencer job.

Industry-specific inclusions, prompted before you send the scope, not discovered after you win it.

The scope itself

What goes into a fencer scope of works.

Fencing quotes are simple until you count the gates and remember the old fence has to go somewhere.

Line items that belong on it

  • Remove existing fence and dispose of waste
  • Clear boundary line of vegetation and obstructions
  • Set posts to required depth and spacing
  • Supply and install panels, palings or infill
  • Supply and hang gates including hardware

What gets left off

  • Gates. Every gate is hardware, framing and hanging time, not a length of fence.
  • Removal and disposal of the old fence. Pulling out concreted posts is slow, dirty work.
  • Ground conditions and levels. Rock, slope and retaining all change the post job.

Worth excluding in writing

  • Boundary survey or dispute resolution
  • Retaining structures requiring engineering
  • Removal of fencing containing hazardous material

Where BuildScope fits

You run the job. BuildScope does the paperwork in the middle.

Fencers know how to walk a job and price it. BuildScope takes the paperwork between the site meeting and the quote going out.

BuildScope does this You do this
  1. 01 Enquiry lands Client rings or emails. You book a time to look at the job.
  2. 02 Site meeting You walk the job, measure up and take your photos.
  3. 03 Brain dump Talk or type the job into BuildScope, on site or in the ute.
  4. 04 The questions BuildScope asks what a tired estimator forgets: access, protection, rubbish, patching.
  5. 05 Scope of Works A full scope, trade by trade, preliminaries first, PC and PS kept separate.
  6. 06 Price and export Check quantities and pricing, apply your margin and GST, export the client-ready PDF.
  7. 07 Send and sign You send the PDF. The acceptance page is already in there for the client to sign.
  8. 08 Job runs Book the trades and get moving. The scope is your checklist and your variation defence.

BuildScope covers steps 03 to 06. You do the trade work, it does the paperwork.

Fencers already running accounting software? No worries.

Build the scope in BuildScope the way you always do, then move the job into your accounting or job management software as a draft, with the PDF attached. Nothing reaches your client until you send it.

How it works

Three steps from site visit to client-ready scope.

01

Describe the job

Walk the line, measure it properly, and count the gates and the level changes.

02

Answer the questions that matter

BuildScope asks the fencing questions: linear metres, fence type and height, number and size of gates, ground conditions, and what happens to the old fence.

03

Review and send

Check the gates are priced separately from the runs, allow for disposal, and send it.

FAQ

Questions fencers ask before signing up.

Is BuildScope built for fencers?
Yes. BuildScope is built around real fencer scopes of works, with fencers-specific line items, inclusions and wording. It is not a generic template you have to bend to fit.
Can BuildScope help fencers avoid missed items?
That is the point. It prompts for the things fencers commonly leave off a quote, like remove existing fence and dispose of waste, so fewer items slip through before you send the scope.
What should a fencing scope of works include?
Removal and construction as separate sections. Taking out and disposing of the existing fence, clearing the boundary, then setting posts to depth and spacing, installing the panels or palings by the linear metre, and every gate priced individually with its hardware. Ground conditions belong in the qualifications because rock and slope change the post job entirely.
Why should gates be quoted separately from fencing?
Because a gate is not a length of fence, it is a frame, a set of hinges, a latch and the time to hang it square so it still swings in a year. Pricing gates inside a per metre rate means a job with three gates earns the same as a job with none, which is where the margin quietly disappears.
Can I edit the scope after the AI builds it?
Always. Every line item, quantity, rate and section is editable. Reorder, add, remove or reword anything before you export.
Does BuildScope work from voice notes and photos?
Yes. Talk through the fencer job, or drop in site notes and a PDF, and BuildScope turns it into a structured Scope of Works you review and tidy.
How does the free trial work?
7 days free with 10 scopes on us, no credit card. Build and export them however you like. After that it is $99 per user a month, everything included.
Does BuildScope work with the software I already use?
Yes. Connect it once from your account settings and any saved scope can be pushed across as a draft, carrying your line items, section headings and exclusions, with the BuildScope PDF attached. BuildScope never sends it to your client and never raises an invoice: that stays your call.
