The scope itself

What goes into a solar installer scope of works.

Solar quotes are competitive on panels and quiet on the electrical work that actually makes the system legal.

Line items that belong on it

  • Supply and install roof mounting system to roof type
  • Supply and install panels to nominated array layout
  • Supply and install inverter to agreed location
  • Isolators, cabling and switchboard works as required
  • Commissioning, monitoring setup and handover documentation

What gets left off

  • Switchboard upgrades. Older boards often cannot take the system as it stands.
  • Roof type and access. Tile, tin and two-storey are three different install jobs.
  • Approvals and paperwork. Applications and documentation take real time.

Worth excluding in writing

  • Roof repairs or structural rectification
  • Network provider connection charges
  • Tree removal or shading rectification

Where BuildScope fits

FAQ

Questions solar installers ask before signing up.

Is BuildScope built for solar installers?
Yes. BuildScope is built around real solar installer scopes of works, with solar installers-specific line items, inclusions and wording. It is not a generic template you have to bend to fit.
Can BuildScope help solar installers avoid missed items?
That is the point. It prompts for the things solar installers commonly leave off a quote, like roof mounting and panels, so fewer items slip through before you send the scope.
What should a solar installation scope of works include?
Install and connect as separate sections. Mounting system suited to the roof type, panels with the array layout, inverter with its location, then isolators, cabling and any switchboard works, then commissioning, monitoring and handover documentation. Approvals and paperwork belong on the scope because they are time, whether you charge for them or not.
Why do solar quotes need to cover switchboard work?
Because a system cannot be connected safely or legally to a board that does not meet current requirements, and plenty of older boards do not. Whether it is included, allowed for as a provisional sum, or excluded pending inspection, saying so upfront prevents the most common solar variation of all, which lands after the panels are already on the roof.
Can I edit the scope after the AI builds it?
Always. Every line item, quantity, rate and section is editable. Reorder, add, remove or reword anything before you export.
Does BuildScope work from voice notes and photos?
Yes. Talk through the solar installer job, or drop in site notes and a PDF, and BuildScope turns it into a structured Scope of Works you review and tidy.
How does the free trial work?
7 days free with 10 scopes on us, no credit card. Build and export them however you like. After that it is $99 per user a month, everything included.
Does BuildScope work with the software I already use?
Yes. Connect it once from your account settings and any saved scope can be pushed across as a draft, carrying your line items, section headings and exclusions, with the BuildScope PDF attached. BuildScope never sends it to your client and never raises an invoice: that stays your call.
